As much as the 2021 COVID pandemic has changed our lives, the millions of animals that enter animal shelters have not significantly changed this year. According to the ASPCA, approximately 6.3 million animals go in animal shelters nationwide every year, and roughly 4 million of those animals are adopted while the remaining 2 million pets are euthanized. As we close out 2021, we should remember those pets that have left us and think about how adoption can save many lives each year if we all do our part in welcoming these pets to our homes.
