Mark your calendars, dog lovers! The Galena Oktoberfest Wiener Dog Races are returning on October 4, 2025, and it's going to be an absolutely pawsome event!
🏁 What to Expect
This year's wiener dog races will feature many dogs of varying ages, racing in a thrilling single-elimination format throughout the day. The competition will crown 3 champions - one in each age division!
- Puppy Division: Under one year of age
- Adult Division: One year of age and older
- Senior Division: Nine years of age and older
But that's not all! The event also includes:
- 🎭 Wiener Dog Parade
- 👑 Best Dressed Contest (male and female categories)
- 🎨 Wiener Dog Art Auction
- 🏆 Legends Race
📅 Event Schedule
- 11:00 AM - Wiener Dog Registration Begins
- 1:10 PM - Call to the Post and Wiener Dog Costume Contest
- 1:30 PM - Senior & Puppy Races Begin
- 3:00 PM - Senior & Puppy Semifinals & Championship
- 3:30 PM - Wiener Dog Art Auction
- 4:00 PM - Adult Races Begin
- 5:30 PM - Adult Semifinals, Championship & Legends Race
💰 Registration & Fees
Great News! There's NO entry fee for all dogs pre-registered by October 1st, 2025. On-site registration is available from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM for a $5.00 entry fee.
🐕 Important Notes for Dog Owners
- Each dog needs someone to release them and someone to receive them
- Volunteers are available to help with releasing if needed
- Receivers can use toys, treats, or calls to encourage their dogs
- Throwing objects is not allowed
- Other dogs are welcome to watch - water stations and bathroom areas will be clearly marked
- Please clean up after your dog(s)
