Oregon Humane Society Reducing Adoption Fees for All Pets This Weekend
The Oregon Humane Society (OHS) is offering a 50% reduction in adoption fees for all animals this weekend, making it an opportune time for those considering adding a furry friend to their family. With over 200 pets available for adoption at their Portland and Salem campuses, this promotion aims to alleviate the shelters' capacity issues while encouraging more adoptions.
This initiative comes after both OHS locations reached full capacity, worsened by the intake of 55 dogs from a recent neglect case. Dr. Steve Kochis, Interim CEO and Chief Medical Officer, emphasized that a fully occupied shelter limits their ability to assist the community. He encourages prospective pet owners to take this chance to provide a loving home to an animal in need.
The adoption special runs through Sunday, October 12, and includes essential services such as up-to-date vaccines, spaying or neutering, a microchip, and a complimentary exam at OHS's Community Veterinary Hospital in Portland and at participating clinics in Salem.
