Let's Think About This One For A Minute

Everyone that has a pet wants to live in a pet-friendly city. But, what exactly is a “pet-friendly city”?

WalletHub came out with a list of the most pet-friendly cities in the United States. They looked at costs for veterinary care, pet insurance, number of veterinarians, dog parks, animal shelters and other factors in deciding which cities get the coveted recognition.

We Can't Get Enough Of This

It seems that the majority of the cities that made it on the list for the "Most Pet-Friendly Cities" are either on the western or eastern parts of the country. Think warm climates.

Those states that have cooler climates are very few. Surprised to hear? Not really.

What's more surprising is that about 1/3 of the United States did not make it on the list. These states are:

  • Arkansas
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Iowa
  • Maine
  • Mississippi
  • Montana
  • New Hampshire
  • North Dakota
  • Rhode Island
  • South Carolina
  • South Dakota
  • Utah
  • Vermont
  • West Virginia
  • Wyoming

Better Luck Next Time

Does this mean that people living in these states don’t like having pets as much? So if you live in one of these states? Sorry, you’re out of luck. :)

We also found it very interesting that Scottsdale,  Arizona the city that took the number one spot as the "Most Pet-Friendly City" did not make it on the list for the lowest veterinary care cost, dog insurance premium, number of veterinarians, pet businesses, dog parks, shelters or pet-friendly restaurants!

Hmmm. You wonder sometimes! Again, Hmmm.

You can read WalletHub's list of Most Pet-Friendly Cities here. Just don’t feel disappointed if you don’t find your own neck of the woods on their list.
