Adopt a Shelter Pet, Today!
Posted by Tom Shannon on
If you're thinking of adding a pet to your home, now's a good time to make that all-important decision. This April 30, the National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day brings awareness to why adopting a Shelter Pet is such an essential part of reducing animal euthanasia and overcrowding in animal shelters.
To give you a sense of how many pets are calling your attention to adopt them, the Shelter Animals Count data found that in 2019 there were about 1.7 million stray pets and around 880 thousand pets that were relinquished by their owners. Around 51.5 percent of those were dogs, while 48.5 percent were cats.
As you can see in the data, there are millions of pets waiting to be adopted. With your help, many of these shelter pets deserve our unconditional love and a good home. All it takes is a commitment from each and everyone to head over to your local shelter, adopt these animals and give them the proper care, attention, and love they truly deserve. Make National Adopt a Shelter Pet Day a memorable one today. Adopt a Shelter Pet!
