Great little kit, but if you have a goldfish you'll probably need a larger filter.

We have a 3 year old goldfish who has been in a 2 gallon container with an air stone, we've wanted to upgrade to a tank for a while now but were a little intimidated by the barrage of choices and suggested "necessities" so this was a good way for us to start. The tank arrived in good shape and we have had no problems with it, fish seems very happy with his larger space. The filter also seemed to work perfectly, not too loud, but we replaced it a couple weeks ago because it seemed unable to process the amount of filth a goldfish puts out. If we had a different fish, like tetras or a beta I'm sure it would have been fine. As it was filter cartridges were only lasting 2-3 days. I also had to buy a timer to plug the lights into, otherwise our poor fish was either getting no light or too much light every day. If I could go back in time I think I'd still have purchased this, it was a good deal and it's been a good educational process. Just wish they'd built in a timer for the lights.

    Such a great beginner aquarium!

We bought this on a whim (overnight shipment) because we found tadpoles in a ditch by our house. My daughters wanted to keep them and watch them grow. How could I say no?! I was able to experience the same as a kid so I certainly couldn't say no. Not to mention, cool quarantine science project! Anyway, we have about 14 tadpoles in this aquarium and it is PERFECT! It beats those annoying triangle shaped tanks from Walmart by a hundred miles. I figure we'll watch the tadpoles go through their evolution before letting them go by a lake close by then sanitize the tank and go save a betta fish from our local pet store. If you're looking for a tank about this size, try this one out! It's awesome.

    Just what I needed

This aquarium is perfect for my two little shrimp buddies! They have enough room to swim about and do shrimp things. They were hiding a lot in their original tank but not in this one. My aquarium came well packaged in an ordinary brown shipping box and no other box inside. I thought for sure that the acrylic front window would have scratches, but to my surprise, it had none! The filter noise level is very low and not noticeable at all. The water flow and intake was much too strong for my shrimp buddies but nothing a foam filter can’t fix so it’s not really an issue. I wouldn’t recommend this for a betta less you install a foam filter to prevent your betta from getting pulled in. Keep in mind that Betta’s are poor swimmers when strong flow is present. They like to hang around more calmer surround. Overall, I recommend this aquarium to newbies, just make sure you place a foam filter or something similar around the intake. Good Luck!

Great for bettas...with one or two adjustments

I have two of these for myself (one white, one black, both are 2.5 g) for my two bettas. My betta and I liked them so much that I got another two as Christmas gifts for my parents. The filters are strong for bettas (esp if you have a dumbo with a long tail), but I fixed that pretty easily by using a pre-filter sponges. I put one sponge around the filter intake to prevent my betta from getting sucked into that part. And then I cut another filter sponge and wrapped it around output to reduce the flow. That has worked perfectly on all 4 tanks that I have. I don’t have any issues w noise, which I was worried about based on other comments. These tanks do lose water to evaporation faster than in other tanks I’ve had, but shouldn’t be a problem if you are doing regular water changes. Overall, great little tank for your betta!

    AWESOME TANK!!!👍🐟🐠🦀😁

Awesome!! This was great for my pet Red Claw crab. It is also great for other fishes, everything fits perfectly, although it may come with a scratch or two. (I got the one gallon) But there so hard to see they're almost unseen. I have not had a single leak at all yet, and I got it shipped used! 😀 very good tank. But the filter is I guess a bit hard to work. There are zero buttons on it, so you just have to plug it in. Note: THE FILTER ONLY WORKS WHEN THE WATER IS DEEP ENOUGH TO THE POINT WHERE THE WATER IS NEAR THE TOP, IT WILL NOT WORK IF IT IS HALF FILLED. Another note; ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS FULLY, OR YOU WILL ESEMBLE IT WRONG, THEN COMPLAIN, THEN RETURN IT, I CAN TELL IT MIGHT HAVE ALREADY HAPPENED IN SOME OF THE OTHER REVIEWS. I am trying to help you. Overall, it was One of the best-cheap fish tanks I have ever gotten. The LED light is great, just remember to always turn off the light at night or the fish will have to much artificial sunlight, and die, eventually.😵 I now have very happy fish. So overall I would definitely buy this product again.😀😁
