Back in 1960 a dog fancier visited Grannick's Pharmacy and explained that her dog would become nervous before every show and start chewing and licking his coat. She asked if there was anything available to help stop him. No such product existed, but in the days when Irv Grannick learned his profession, pharmacists regularly prepared their own compounds and ointments. He tried different bitter flavorings until he came up with a formula that worked. The "Grannicks Bitter Apple" was then born, and ever since every day more veterinarians, groomers, and pet lovers around the world discover the benefits of this product.

  • Discourages fur biting, hair chewing, and hot spots.
  • Easy to use spray bottle makes it convenient.
  • Discourages licking and chewing on furniture or fabrics where applied.
  • Invented by a pharmacist and trusted by veterinarians and groomers.
  • Non-toxic, safe, and effective chew deterrent.

It works, but Christ almighty it tastes awful

I’ve been a big fan of this bitter apple spray for years. It absolutely works and is easy to use. My pets hate it. However, just be warned, spraying it will most likely mean a bit of it somehow ends up in your mouth and it is god awful. I swear, I am careful with it, but every time a tiny drop ends up in my mouth. Anything you spray will linger in the air, and this is no exception. It’s not dangerous. It isn’t going to make you sick or anything at all. It’s just the most nasty taste. Lord have mercy. Lol

My cat HATED it

I got this to keep my cat from chewing on the Christmas tree and it worked perfectly! He hated it and after trying a few different spots on the tree, gave up. I ended up having to break it out again when he discovered he could get to the tree further up by standing on presents since I only sprayed the bottom portion.

Works well for us

We have had good success with this product. Our 4 month old puppy was chewing cabinets and rugs. Once we sprayed this product, he quickly would shake his head and never go back. Does not seem sticky or too smelly. Wood seams to hold up fine after spraying. We did spray multiple times to be safe, as other reviewers suggested. Did not work as well on shoes, for some reason.

This WORKS for my dog's chewing habits!!!

I used to use this a long time ago and it worked great back then, however, I was concerned about using it again after reading some of the reviews about it smelling like alchohol and their dog's liking the smell, licking it. I figured I'd give it a try anyway and I'm glad I did because it still works great! My 1 year old dog does not like the smell or the taste and will NOT chew or lick anything that I've sprayed it on. I don't recall it smelling so much like alcohol when I had used it in the past, but it still works the same. A true game changer - thankfully!!!!

PRODUCT IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!

We have a dog who LOVES the water!!! So squirting with water for behavior problems is not an option. Found out about this awesome spray in a professional dog training class. IT’S INCREDIBLE!!! Just a spray or two will stop Josie Jo in her tracks!! Stops excessive barking, jumping on guests, helps her “drop” something she’s not supposed to have, etc. I imagine it may not work for all dogs, but thank goodness it works for ours!! This is our 4th bottle we’ve ordered. We’ve been using this product for 3 years and still LOVE it!!

The only negative thing we can say about this product is that the sprayer on the bottle it comes in breaks right away. But with a very easy fix we transfer the solution to a large spray bottle as soon as we get it. Small problem solved!!
